I stumbled upon a Music History Webring. I don't know much (i.e. anything) about webrings, but this struck me as an interesting way of pulling things together and encouraging study.
If you don't like being bombarded by adverts, look away.
But if you don't mind Haydn sitting next to "cut away lbs of fat off your body" etc., you'll find the music history webring here.
