Unfit for purpose
Is copyright fit for purpose in the information age?
The Society of Archivists is joining with CILIP to present the above Executive
Briefing in Manchester on 28th April 2009. The briefing will look at the development
of copyright law and practice in the UK and Europe in relation to electronic
materials and uses from the point of view of rights owners, public information
professionals and users since the implementation of the Information Society
Directive in 2003. It will also consider the likely future development of copyright
in light, for instance, of the proposals for implementation of the recommendations
of the Gowers Review, the European Commission's Green Paper on Copyright in the
Knowledge Economy, the draft directive on the term of copyright in sound recordings
and performances, and proposals to deal with orphan works.
